Give Thanks For Unanswered Prayers

There's a Garth Brooks song, "Unanswered Prayers," you may be familiar with. It goes:

"Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers,

Remember, when you're talking to the man upstairs,

And just because he doesn't answer, doesn't mean he don't care,

Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."

How many times have you looked back and realized you dodged a big one? And been grateful for those unanswered prayers? Or are you still smarting from the experiences? If you're still stuck, here's another point of view to consider.

From an energy perspective, most of life's experiences are grounded in energy resonance. When you magnetize from your heart, the gifts you receive come from a highly intelligent place deep within your soul that knows your every desire. And what's best for you in that moment.

Sometimes we desire people, situations, and things that we think will fulfill us. But many times, our desires are influenced unconsciously by the media, friends, family, mass consciousness, and even coworkers. When you magnetize with your mind, the ego gets in the way and these desires are based in limitations. Fortunately, the heart knows no limits, and the possibilities are endless. Imagine if you will, the mind as a one lane highway on an open road. The heart, an endless meadow of flowers with every color and variety imaginable -- with blue skies overhead.

In Garth's song, he says he used to pray that God would make a woman he desired his for all time. And if he would grant him this one wish, he'd never ask for anything again. After running into her years later at a hometown football game, Garth says she wasn't quite the angel he remembered in his dreams. They had both changed. And as she walked away, he gave thanks for unanswered prayers.

I always get a kick out of that song when I think back to the wishes I wholeheartedly wanted that thankfully never materialized. The stories can get pretty comical. We all have them.

How many times have you desired something that wasn't what you thought, but looked pretty darn good in the moment? Perhaps, you still hold a grudge, blame someone, or yourself for the situation and you're unwilling to let go and let be? A position? Promotion? Marriage? Divorce? Friendship? Relationship?

Fortunately, or unfortunately, what transpired didn't resonate with your energy. Your ego tricked you and you bought into the illusion. And because of that, you're likely holding back what IS in front of you. But you can't receive it, because the energy is blocked by these experiences.

Remember, what the heart gives is always way better than what the mind could ever have conceived. You can't see all the unlimited potentials and opportunities that exist in the world -- but your heart can. Because it's timeless and limitless. And the gifts it provides arrive with the most exquisite timing.

Fortunately, you can choose to let go of the ego asks and experiences that are holding you back. Now. Here's how:

Find a comfy chair. Put your hand on your heart and say CENTER. Then say the person's name, situation, or thing, and say I RELEASE YOU NOW. MAKE IT SO. Then say DETACH.

To lead from the heart to magnetize your desires, place your hand on your heart, breathe several times and say CENTER. Then visualize and/or imagine the end result of something you would like. You can also speak the desired end result out loud (1 - 3 words only. e.g. healthy, loving relationship, life partner, etc.) with your hand on your heart as you bask in how wonderful it will feel. Don't fill in the picture and how it should look. Let your heart color it in with its magic. Just imagine how great the end result is and how awesome it will feel. To close say DETACH. Then sit back, and let it unfold.

Know too, that once you release painful experiences that hinder you from leading more fully from your heart, the joyful magic that resides within will unfold effortlessly on your behalf. In the meantime, don't forget to clear out "old" requests, and give thanks for unanswered prayers.

Spot on. I refer the holding of anger as "stewing in your own bile". Anger usually only harms one person -- the holder, not the source.

I just finished reading your post “Give Thanks for Unanswered Prayers” and I want to take a moment to acknowledge the courage it takes to share such a vulnerable and honest perspective. Your words beautifully capture a profound truth that so many of us struggle to embrace, that sometimes what we do not get turns out to be exactly what we need.

The way you invite readers to reflect on gratitude even in uncertainty and disappointment is both powerful and healing. It is clear this piece comes from a place of deep personal insight and that authenticity makes it resonate so strongly.

Thank you for being willing to open up and offer this message. It is the kind of honest…

A lovely article, and so true. Sometimes, in hindsight, I've learned things I wished for weren't what was best for me. The challenge is to know that in the moment, to let it go and let life unfold. 🩷

Wonderful article to read!!! Reminds us that our desires might be fulfilled even better than we imagined when we come from the heart.
